Richmond County

Atlas is monitoring Richmond County as a compliance-and-conditions watch area after NC DEQ's Division of Air Quality issued final air quality permits to Amazon Data Services and Duke Energy Progress on August 28, 2026. The permits cap emissions and require control technologies, testing, monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting. Air permit issuance is not approval of the data center, grid connection, construction completion, operating status, or county endorsement.
